The music video for the first single from Susan Boyle's holiday album The Gift (right) has been posted on YouTube. Lou Reed's Perfect Day may seem like an odd choice for a holiday album, but you just have to listen to this track to realize that it is a true masterpiece.
It has been reported that Reed helped conceptualize the video, which is dark and brooding and increases the impact of the bittersweet lyrics. This is has much of a pleasant surprise from Boyle as her cover of Wild Horses. At this point, I would like to see Snoop Dogg fulfill his fantasy of recording a track with Boyle doing vocals.
This is certainly going to be the top-selling holiday album of 2010. The more traditional tracks are wonderful, too.
