The last recording artist that I would imagine having an album cover featured in the WTF?! category is Carly Simon. Yet, when I saw the cover for her forthcoming album Never Been Gone, I just about spewed my morning coffee all over my computer monitor.
I know that it looks like a joke, but this is the actual cover. Simon is such a beautiful woman. I simply can’t understand why she would go with such a ridiculous cover. It seems more appropriate for “Weird Al” Yankovic. Let’s hope that she comes to her senses and changes this cover before the album is released next month.

Only two words can describe this album cover, freak show! I would not have even guessed that it is Carly Simon. I love her, too. The art director responsible for this should be tarred and feathered.
This album cover makes my brain frizzle. What does the title have to do with the picture? What does the picture have to do with her persona? She’s not exactly at the top of the charts anymore—shouldn’t she try to create a more artful cover that grabs the disinterested public’s imagination? Even the choice of typeface is an afront. Oh Carly, you freewheeling Cancer sign—will we ever be able to tame you?
